AC/DC Radio

Legendary Australian hard rock band, AC/DC, whose popular Back in Black album sold over 42 million copies worldwide, will host their own limited run satellite radio channel Sirius Satellite Radio beginning next Monday.

AC/DC Radio will be broadcast on Sirius channel 29 and will debut on Monday, September 15, 2008 at 6 pm ET and run through to January 15th of next year.


The channel will play all the classic AC/DC rock recordings such as "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)," "You Shook Me All Night Long," and "Back in Black" as well as new songs from their Brendan O'Brien produced album, Black Ice , the band's first studio album in eight years.

The channel will also feature AC/DC band members Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Cliff Williams, Brian Johnson and Phil Rudd describing their rock & roll career spanning more than 30 years and sharing their personal insights into their music.

AC/DC has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide including Back in Black which is the fifth highest-selling album of all time. AC/DC was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in March 2003.

Rock 'n Roll Train has been storming radios across the world till it's release. People can't seem to have enough! Blabbermouth says: AC/DC's first new single in eight years, "Rock 'N Roll Train", is the first song to debut at No. 1 on the Rock (spins) chart in the BDS (Broadcast Data Systems) Canada era (beginning 1997) and the first AC/DC song in the BDS era to reach No. 1.


AC/DC has 6 albums in the Australian Top 50 this week, including one in the top 20 with collective sales that out sold the number one album this week.

Brendan O'Brien says that the new album will get the same treatment as any other AC/DC effort. AC/DC gets back to basics: I was hoping the songs would lend themselves to more of a — 'pop' is the wrong word, but hooky sort of treatment," O'Brien told Rolling Stone. "Like 'Back in Black' or 'Highway to Hell' and even 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.' I was trying to just make people remember, 'This is the same band. I have missed this band. I love this band. Where have they been?'

O'Brien said their demos had a very unique sound: If it's Angus' song, he's doing a guitar riff or the drum machine or a drum sort of thing, and he'll sing this very mumbly melody, very superlow, three octaves down, he explained.

And by the way, Angus won't give up his school-boy outfit: At first, when I think about 'Hey, I haven't worn it in a while,' it takes me a little bit of psychology to get into it," he told Rolling Stone. "But I promised myself I'm not gonna think — I'll just put it on.

In about 2 or 3 hours, AC/DC's new single Rock 'N Roll Train will air on X Rocks 105.7 radio (00:00, 28th August). It will also play the whole next day, but it'll probably appear on YouTube as soon as it airs for the first time.
